Argostoli / Sea Turtles Caretta Caretta
This private tour around Argostoli starting early in the morning so we can have a nice walk by the lagoon which is an attractive nature reserve for wildlife that includes the Caretta Caretta turtle and various waterfowl.
Katavothres Water Sinkholes
Next stop is Katavothres Water Sinkholes, a geographical phenomenon which happens where the sea water through the rocks at the shore and disappears underground only to resurface at the Melissani Lake cave on the other side of the island, roughly 15 kilometres away.
Lighthouse of Saint Theodore
Afrerwards the Lighthouse of Saint Theodore, a famous landmark and well worth a visit. The 8-meter tall lighthous with Doric elements is a romantic spot, ideal for stunning photos.
De Bosset Bridge
Then we will visit the De Bosset Bridge which is a stone bridge built in 1813 over the bay of Argostoli in Kefalonia. At 689.9 meters, it is the longest stone bridge over the sea in the world.
Saint George Castle
Saint George Castle, our next stop, built on a vantage point in Peratata outside Argostoli in the 12th century BC by Byzantine Emperors.
Mycenaean Cemetery of Mazarakata
The Mycenaean Cemetery of Mazarakata has a total of 17 chamber tombs and a large number of Mycenaean vases and tiny artifacts were discovered, some of which you can admire at the Argostoli Archaeological Museum and another collection at the National Archaeological Museum in Athens. The tombs are subterranean, cut into natural rock (limestone), and consist of a hallway, an entrance, and a chamber. The chambers’ dimensions differ. Some are smaller (1.40 m x 1.90 m) consisting of a few burials, while others are bigger (5.50 m × 4.80 m) and have many burials.
Lord Byron Hill
Next is The Byron Hill that we can to take photos and looking the view. Byron initially stayed on the island of Kefalonia where he was besieged by agents of the rival Greek factions.The Ionian islands, of which Kefalonia is one, were under British rule until 1864. Byron spent £4,000 of his own money to refit the Greek fleet.
Makris Gialos / Costa Costa Beach (swim)
Finally, Makris Gialos (Costa Costa Beach) will allow you to relax under the glorious sun. It is one of the busiest beaches of Kefalonia, boasting golden sand and crystal clear waters.
